What's all this business about French Christmas?

  • My name—Noël—has been mispronounced, mislabeled, and mistaken since my parents bestowed it upon me one snowy March afternoon. It wasn't until a friend nicknamed me "French Christmas" that it came into focus. How much would our lives change if we could just see things differently?

It's about time, isn't it? Thanks for the mention! It is indeed one of the things I love so dearly about Winter - the stillness. It is profound! It's deafening in so many ways - so tranquil. I want to savor it. I love it best at night - in the dark - the snow glistening in the moonlight - the air crisp and fresh. It is life affirming!

Happy Winter, Noel.

Your words, as always, are beautiful. Enjoy every minute of this stunning season in all its tranquility.

Noel

@Tracy--You are so so so right. the last 24 hours have been heavenly. I hope it sticks around for a little while!

@Wholly Jeanne--You are too kind! Thank you. I have not always been the biggest cheerleader for winter, but in the past few years I've been able to appreciate what the season brings.

@Mary--Thanks! That is the plan. I hope it sticks around. How's your winter going?

Dragonfly

Oh, Happy Winter. This post is a delightful suprise. You make winter likeable (:

Robin

Beautiful! Winter stillness lulls me, and I want to hibernate until spring. I was feeling a little guilty about going so inward lately, but your post makes me want to celebrate all that the season brings! Thanks. :)

Noel

@Robin--Do not feel guilty for one second! I love that you have been going inward. I have been feeling it to and instead of fighting into it, I'm leaning in and it feels freakin' fantastic. I used to fight against winter, but now I see how necessary she is, the time to dream and rest before spring blooms.

Abigail

I love the diving into winter...it feels cool and refreshing and full of second chances!
