Lately I’m balancing in half moon, one hand on the ground and one hand stretched towards the sky, one foot rooted and one foot reaching. I am leaning, testing for my center of gravity, which seems to have shifted, to where I’m still not sure. I feel like a scarecrow braced against an Autumn wind.
Minutes slip by and I’m not sure how long I’ve been here, I just know I’m more aware of the alignment of my body. I am aware of instinctual adjustments it makes, the snapping of sinew and the tightening of each little cell, to compensate for when the center dropped down and out, to compensate for where it was, to compensate for what is taking its place.
It is an awesome awareness, isn't it? It is relaxing and empowering and grounding all at the same time. I need to start doing yoga again. I always feel so invigorated and calm afterwards! As always, love your description of the process, Noel.

Your beautiful words have sold me. Remember how I was talking about the need for self-care earlier this week? I'll throw some half moons in there...

Oh, it is a strange, strange thing to be unsure about your center of gravity... to know it's there but not know where. If there's one thing you have taught me this year, it's how to trust--to trust in the need for silence and the need to reach out to others, and to trust in me. Knowing you is such a gift.

@Kim--You said so perfectly: I know it's there, I just don't know where. Knowing YOU is a gift! :)

So I feel this balance thing still happening for you. so difficult to get all those monkeys chattering in your head to be quiet....the silence will lead you to your true self.

It's a very satisfying feeling, no doubt about it. At first, the poses may seem too intense, and you just do your best to get the pose right. But soon enough the body starts getting used to it, as your mind and instincts acquire a clearer insight on how to practice the poses.

@Cooper -- yes, I find this happens constantly, even in poses I've been practicing for years!
