Dear Readers,
I’m jumping away from the #Trust30 project for a minute to answer this prompt from Reverb11, which is another incredible writing project that’s ongoing throughout the year. I hope all these prompts and Qs and As haven’t been too confusing; they are a lot to keep track of, but for me, right now, they have become like buoys and lighthouses, guiding me from one wave to the next. So without further ado …
#Reverb11 June prompt:
What can you let yourself off the hook for?
Last week I ate a brownie on a non-designated brownie day. It was moist and covered in chocolate frosting and contained the perfect walnut-to-cake ratio. Eating it on a non-designated brownie day, which is usually a Saturday, made it taste even that much better.
Last week I decided to take my time answering the #trust30 prompts, because life is showering down on me right now, and I need some time to sort out the feathers and buttons and other assorted detritus falling from the sky. And as I sweep and sort and clean, #trust30 will help me put these things in order, not just throughout June, but through the rest of the summer season.
Last week I let myself off the hook for the future, and all the goals and dreams and sandcastles I think I should build, and just decided to focus on right now. This evening. This spot on the couch. This one-hour TV program. This gardenia-scented candle flickering in my living room.
I'm really glad you let yourself off the hook. I think the point of these prompts was to bring out the ways in which you trust yourself, and I'll be damned if that isn't just what you've shown right here and now. There's enough to worry about in the world, anyway. And brownies with perfect nut ratios? Those don't come around every day.

Take all the time you need. Brownies are just what one needs when you are taking time to self reflect. We will be here waiting when the brownies are devoured and you return. (;

Wow--your description of that brownie is making my mouth water and I'm not even a brownie nut! Nice work.
I really liked reading this post, Noel. I often forget to focus on the moment and it's so important. Thanks for reminding me that sometimes, it's absolutely necessary.
Have a wonderful week!

First, sorry to ALL for the delayed response!
@Kim--Thanks for your comment. You're so right--these prompts ARE about trusting yourself, and trusting that maybe trying to answer them all in 30 days isn't the right thing for you personally.
@Dragonfly--Are you gonna make me some of your famous brownies? ;)
@Mary--Thank you! You have a wonderful week also!

I swear I thought I posted a comment on here! I love that you are just living in the moment. I'm trying to do that too. It's necessary I think and healthy. Good for you!
